Stop Spam Y2K Date Fix Scanning Tip

Email tip to help rid your mailbox of the dreaded spam
I have Outlook Express for my email, but I imagine that whatever email you are using will have a similar function. I click on tools on the tool bar and when the drop down menu appears I click on "Inbox Assistant." Another menu opens that lets me enter words that might appear in a subject line or mail from certain email addresses that I can choose to have deleted from my server. It is best to choose to delete from the server instead of "do not download from the server" because your server only has a certain amount of space set aside for you and if you leave these messages on the server, your mail box will be "STUFFED" after a while.

Y2K Date Fix
1) Double click on "My Computer". 2) Double click on "Control Panel". 3) Double click on "Regional Settings" icon. 4) Click on the "Date" tab at the top of the page. Where it says, "Short Date Sample," look and see if it shows a "two digit" year. Of course it does. That's the default setting for Windows 95/Windows 98 and NT. This date RIGHT HERE is the date that feeds application software and WILL NOT rollover in the year 2000. It will roll over to 00. 5) Click on the button across from "Short Date Style"and select the option that shows, mm/dd/yyyy. (Be sure your, selection has four Y's showing, not two). 6) Then click on "Apply" and then click on"OK" at the bottom.
